This hand painted cloth flag is marked with battle quotes such as "Banzai", and "Good Luck for Bravery". There is really a lot of writing on this flag, and is correct it is often written radiating outward from the "sun" in the center of the flag. There is even some writing on the sun itself, which we do not often see. Thankfully most of the Japanese writing looks to be in the
