made of three carved layers of wood

I'd guess it dates to the mid- to late-19th century and is marked "Germany" in blue on the bottom

They came nicely preserved inside a large piece of paper with folded edges, with "Specimens of Sea Weeds for Mrs. Bindle" hand written on the front.
