Considered together with the deer watercolor surely by the same artist

I think it certainly could still be employed as a nutcracker

This wonderful thing I know from the seller was found in New England and obviously all carved from one piece of wood (hardwood

and the fading out of the armature from which the deer hang enhancing the cross-like tethering of limbs

I love the blue paint against the varnished wood, and of course all of those little nails giving pattern to the toe and sides, and especially the larger nails marching up the front, the tails of which one
