This is a very nice example of the Standard socket bayonet for the Austrian Model 1842 Augustin Rifled Musket, many of which were imported during the U. S. Civil War. These were originally issued with a "Tube Lock", an interesting design somewhere between a flintlock and a percussion lock. After this system because obsolete, many were converted to percussion and then disposed of on the international market. The
