This particular box I believe was refinished at some point (the exterior is in excellent condition)

The box measures 5 3/4 square and 1 5/8" tall

Quite finely done, at first glance one might almost think it a print, but it's a watercolor indeed, unsigned but dating to the mid 19th century I know. The treatment of the dog I think is especially terrific, with its shaggy hair given intensive attention, but it's that white paw
