There is a legend that the floating Ivory Soap was an accident. A worker left the air mixing machine on for too long and because mixing extra air doesn't effect the ingredients the company sold the "ruined" batch of soap. Procter and Gamble received many appreciative letters about this floating soap they decided to increase the mix time
